Husband and wife team, Sasha and Mariane Sonnbichler, are the superheroes behind Vivace Musikstudios. Collectively, they have over 40 years of experience teaching music. They met while developing their passion for Music Education in California at the San Fransisco International Orff Course and have since taught together on 3 different continents. They look forward to sharing their love of music with children, teens and adults alike in Zurich!

Sasha Sonnbichler: South African musician, performer and educator. He holds an MBA in Music Business Development from Henley Business School in Johannesburg, a Master in Arranging from Berklee College of Music and a Performance degree in Guitar from The American Institute of Music in Vienna. Sasha has been teaching and performing for over 25 years around the world, working with children and adults of all ages. His most recent teaching took place at Phillips Exeter Academy, one of the top High Schools in the United States, where Sasha conducted the Global Rhythm Ensemble. He wrote, produced and performed two solo albums, Tan Huts and Ndaa-Greetings, winning awards and nominations for both. Sasha was the lead guitarist in Disney’s: The Lion King (the Musical) which ran in Johannesburg from 2006-2007. He has performed in jazz swing bands, Dixieland Bands, experimental fusion bands and the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra on various occasions, most notably in George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue. Sasha is well versed in Classical, Jazz & Modern/Pop/Broadway Musics. He holds a level III certification in Orff Schulwerk and can be found playing his guitar or studying George Russel’s Lydian Chromatic Concept.

Marianne Sonnbichler: Holds two Master’s Degrees; one in Music Performance from The Manhattan School of Music, and one in Music Education from Columbia University, both in New York City. She also holds a Bachelor’s in Music Performance, from the University of Colorado and teaching certifications in Kodály and Orff Schulwerk methodologies. Marianne has international experience having taught and performed in New York, NY, Johannesburg, South Africa, and now Zurich, Switzerland. She has studied abroad in Hungary at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music, as well as in Italia with La Musica Lirica. Marianne has over 15 years of experience teaching piano, voice, choir and general music privately and in elite schools around the globe to children and adults of all ages. Marianne’s studies, teaching and performing experience has shaped her world view as a teacher. She believes music is the universal language of peace, hope and connectivity. Marianne enjoys spending time with her children and their dog Jozi and can be found singing her favourite German Lieder around the house.
